“Hello, I don’t know if you remember having me as a student but I took a Judo class my first semester at Finger Lakes Community College (Canandaigua, New York) with you as my instructor. I really enjoyed your class, and learned a lot. With that said, I would like to say thank you for your wisdom. The other night, my girlfriend and I happened to be walking when a drunk stopped us. After min or two, it turned into a physical altercation. Using the Shrimping technique along with the knowledge of controlling an opponent’s arms I was able to defend my girl and myself. God only knows what would have happened if I would have lost. Your lessons were a life-saver, and I couldn’t thank you enough”
“I got between him and my girl, and you could say he kinda tackled me. When he was on top, I stopped him from hitting me by grabbing his wrists and kept them at his waist. I did the shrimp, and got on top. From there he couldn’t do anything, and my girl was able to get inside my apartment building.”
Sincerely,
Daniel Rivera
