No one said that Brazilians invented it. It’s just commonly called Brazilian kick in the kick boxing scene, because Brazilian Kyokushin guys like Filho and Feitosa were the first to have success with it in K1.

Use the kick if the opponent is backing up or is very defensive, also to end a combination. Don’t use it if your opponent is known for rushing, shortening the distance or direct countering.

1. Start with a fake front or roundhouse kick (if trying the roundhouse make sure you don’t throw the hips in becouse you won’t have enough room for the kick later). The fake kick should be fast enough to cause a defensive reaction.

2. The next three things are important and MUST be performed simultaneously: 1)Snap the lower leg back and continue raising the knee; 2)Turn the hips; 3)Turn the supporting foot so that the heel shows to the target. Once again all these things SIMULTANEOUSLY!

3. If the lower leg and the thigh reach the same level begin to straighten your leg as fast as possible.

Japanese name for the “brazilian kick”
http://www.kyokushin4life.com/forums/technique/796-japanese-name-for-the-brazilian-kick.html

It is called the Brazilian Kick because it became well known when used by fighters like Filho and Ademir Da Costa (mostly DaCosta since he was active long bofore Filho. Kick boxerscall it the Kyokushin kick because they originally seen it done by Kyokushin fighters.

Tzukamoto (IKO2 champion) calls it Maha geri. Filho called it Kubi geri when he visited my country before the split. Kubi geri is also a name for jodan mawashi geri in some of sosais old books. (kubi=throat)
I have also been taught it under the name sankaku geri (=triangle kick. Describing the movement of the foot). But that name also describes a inside kick to the thigh (standard technique name in Ashihara, but also used in Kyokushin on occasion.)

kind of suspect that you are mixing up the techniques. the brazilian kick is not the same as the rolling kick.
This is Tate kubi mawashi geri (aka: tate geri, kubi geri, tate kubi geri, maha geri or the brazilian kick -whatever you prefer to call it):

(This example is done with the back leg. Feitosa excel in doing it with the front leg)
