Hi XXXXX,

It’s been so long that I don’t remember who you are. In any case, I have been burned many time teaching martial arts to people who don’t really care, and just want to have something to pass their time.

It takes more than a flash of the cash and sporadic attendance to succeed in traditional dojo. The students above are considered worthy and dedicated by their instructor.

As you know my school is in Wayne County, so the demographic group that I have to work with is very small. Martial art is very personal to me. And over the last 5 years since I started teaching Wayne County – New York, I realize that what I teach is not for everyone.

One of the biggest pet peeves I have is people not paying me, and not showing up to my class when they say they will.

So now I am picky about whom I teach. I hope you don’t misunderstand by thinking I am trying to form some kind of cult. But instead I am going back to the old way of martial arts teaching, when the master was very careful who he picked to be his students because the students is the culmination of the master’s work being pass on.

Ancient students felt like they belonged, a feeling that carries over into present-day Japan, where the individual is judged (and often judges himself) according to the groups to which he belongs

The members of the ryu very much have the feeling of nakama (within the interior space) with others of their school or style. They have shared similar training, totally unique to those outside it.

They have a common understanding of the ryu. It’s much like a family.

If you are interested in learning martial arts for your work environment, I am more than happy to assist you, as I am very interested in understanding what an average State Correction Officer have to go through, and what legal liabilities they have.

My suggestion is if you are interested in learning self defense/Close Quarter Combat for your work, you can do private lesson with me. Once you become an official member than you can attend my other classes. I have stop trying to make money teaching martial arts that are highly functional yet not very mainstream marketable. Instead I have developed other programs that address these issues.

So my Adult’s Mixed Martial Arts class is my incubator, my R&D lab and my baby, which is why I am very selective of who trains with me.
Hopefully this answers your question.

Sincerely,
Mong
